Brochure Project

The idea the group members came up with is to create a brochure for three of the Disney theme parks in Florida. Out of the three brochures, one will display the Magic Kingdom, another will display the Animal Kingdom, and finally, the last brochure will display Epcot. The brochures will include the main attractions, places to eat, and other important landmarks each park has that tourists should visit. The most important thing is to have very attractive text/visual work to maximize the effectiveness of the brochure.

The template being used will be the gatefold brochure. The brochure will open both flaps on the inside as there will be the main attraction for each park in the center. For the Magic Kingdom, there will be a castle displayed as the main attraction. For Epcot, there will be a large golf ball with Mickey Mouse ears and a hat. Lastly, the Animal Kingdom will have the Big Animal Tree. There may be a picture spread across the front so when the brochure is opened, you’re opening the doorway to the inside of each park. Along with having the main visual on the front, there will be characters from each park on the inside of the brochure to make the pages informational yet playful. As an idea, it might be possible to put a map of each park on the very back of the brochure. As a vibrant and playful brochure is the ultimate goal, there will be drafts made because if the map is too small it would be difficult to read. Visibility must be clear for a brochure, so alternatives will need to be made. A simpler map can be shown exhibiting the park's main entrances and exits in the north-south direction.

Using the gatefold brochure is a great way to captivate a person's attention. A gatefold's open arms will attract further interest, drawing a target audience into what you're saying. When a brochure says "grab," it’s meant that the pages of the magazine will actually open big enough to reach out and grab the attention of a large number of readers. Although not literally, the gatefold opens wide enough to accommodate huge, panoramic pictures. A gatefold is a four-paneled printed sheet that is widely used to increase the amount of printing space available in publications. The printed sheet's left and right panels fold inward with parallel folds, overlapping at the middle of the publication. The brochure must have a captivating visual, such as the entrance to the park, references to the rest of the park, and an invitation on where to start. Getting someone to pick up and open the brochure is the key to a great project. Once the reader is pulled in, you can be as creative as possible regarding the details of the brochure and captivate them into the world of the differently-themed Disney Parks.
